Well kittens, it's been a whirlwind of a year full of ups, downs and some just plain crazy times. I can only hope that 2011 will be even better for me and for all of you! For my last nail post for 2011, I wanted to share my new years nails. I created these by applying 3 coats of CND, Studio White. Then, using a clean makeup sponge, I applied Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, Evening Fog in two sheer coats. Its going to be hard to see a difference with this color on top of the white, but trust me, it helps the ombre effect in the end. Using a clean side of the sponge, I then applied two sheer coats of Gosh, Gold. To finish it all off apply a coat or two of your favorite top coat. As usual, I used Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!
What are you wearing for your new years nails?
I'm having so much fun creating fun holiday inspired nails. Today's nail creation is traditional candy cane stripes. A striping tool is essential in creating this look. You could use a nail art polish, but I don't always love their formula. You may have to go over it a few times to get even, opaque coverage.
For the white I used a flat white with no shimmer: LA Splash Great White ($3.99). A shimmery white would also look nice, just make sure you apply enough layers to achieve full coverage. I used a medium length striping tool from a Sally Beauty Nail Art Brush Set ($10.99) to create alternating thicknesses of red. I liked the little bit of shimmer that Zoya Lisa ($7) adds. A little shimmer gives it a realistic candy shine. I topped it with two coats of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat ($9.99) for extra shine.
