I know NYE is a little ways away still but don't tell me you haven't considered a few nail options yet? Right? Yeah, that's what I thought. For this glittering glory I started with 3 coats of Maybelline Express Finish, 650 Sunlight. You can get away with 2 but I like 3 since this polish is on the sheer side. I then topped it with a couple of coats of Sally Girl, Chunky Gold Glitter. This glitter is a little tricky to apply because instead of swiping like a normal polish you have to dab it to place the glitter where you want. I love the 2 different sizes of glitter so I don't mind applying it this way at all.
What do you think? Is this nail look perfect for NYE or what? PS. Click through to see what it looks like with a coat of Essie, Matte About You on top. Spoiler alert... it's really awesome.
This weeks's manicure is a snow globe inspired look. I used 2 coats of Color Club, Sheer Disguise as my base color. It closely resembles the grey-blue color that the sky becomes when it's snowy. I then used LASplash, Great White and a dotting tool to carefully place my snow flakes, which are more like snow balls, but whatever. I made them more dense at the bottom to resemble accumulation. I then topped it all off with Sally Girl, So Disco to give it a bit of winter magic.
Now if only that snow would just get here already! Enjoy kittens.
Indian culture has some of the most amaizing colors and embellishishments in the world. This nail design was inspired by beautiful Indian textiles. I started out with just two coats of Zoya, Areej but of course I had up the drama ante by adding some more goodies. I added a 2 sheer layers of Petites, Universe (a sheer gold shimmer with gold flakies) I deepend the gold at the cutical end with GOSH, Gold. To finish it up, I added a couple layers of Sally Girl, gold glittler (unnamed) which has with small and large hex glitters. Then I topped it all off with a layer of Seche Vite, Fast Dry Top Coat.
Pictured: top with all the embellishment and bottom without.
Today's mani monday is a on glitter overload. I used one coat of Zoya, Jo as my background. Since it was going to be covered I didn't bother making it super even hence the lack of second coat. I did be careful to keep the edges nice. I then topped it with Sally Girl Sparkle Effects Loose Glitter, 388608 which is a multidimensional blue/green/purple. I dipped the brush of the clear into the glitter then spread it across each nail. I keep this clean for this specific technique. I applied two coats of the glitter/clean mix. I really love the effect this technique has but it really is a pain to get off. Oh well, it's worth it for the effect. Enjoy!
Two manis in a week? YES! Here's my St. Patrick's Day manicure for you all! My background color is two coats of CND, Green Scene. I then then it topped with a coat of INGLOT, 203 which is a green-tone flakie in a clear base. Sally Girl, Chunky Gold Glitter finished off the look. I applied a coat of Seche Vite, Fast Dry Top Coat between the flakies and the gold glitter and two more on top. I included a close up picture to show the depth. Its a little on the blurry part, I should have lit it better and maybe used a tripod. oh well.
The inspiration was green for obvious reasons, the flakies add an essence of magic and the gold represents the pot of gold. Horray... now lets drink a green beer and call it a day. Cheers!
Ok, well, I'm using the term manicure loosely. Even I am offended by state of my own cuticles. Try to avoid the horror and focus on the girly luster of my princess polish. I was inspired by @alwaysinstyle's mani that I saw when we went to a clothing swap a few weekends ago. Hers was a little more on the cool, lilac-pink tone but I don't have anything like that. My collection of polishes errs on the side of warm.
I used two coats of China Glaze, Naked followed by a heavy coat of Sally Girl, EH9. I topped it all off with my usual Seche Vite, Fast Dry Top Coat. So kittens, are you a pretty pretty princess? PS. This would also make a cute, super girly valentines day mani!
The word upcycle is becomeing a pretty common word. It means to reuse something to make it part of a greater item. How is upcycling different than recycling? Recycling breaks things down to be made into a form of the same thing they used to be sometimes degrading their value in the process while upcycling adds value and/or has a higher environmental value.
So what does it have to do with nails? Well, I've hear the term recycled manicure going around the internet, and I truly think it should be called upcycled manis. I spiced up my Lady is a Vamp mani from monday. If you forget, I used 2 coats of CND, Dark Ruby #540. To upcycle I started out with by applying Color Club,Wild and Willing on my ring fingers and let it dry. Then using Sally, Girl EH9 glitter polish to affix some Cina Nail Art Kit, Pink Cosmo iridescent sequins. Then topped it all with another layer of the glitter polish.
What do you think? Would you upcycle you manicure with nail art?
Move over ruby slippers, there's a new gem in town! Sapphires are quickly becoming the most sought after stones following the royal engagement of Prince William to Kate Middletown which was solidified with the famous sapphire engagement ring. Who wouldn't want to sport a set of rocks like that? Alas, we are not royals but we can sparkle like them with my ultra glittery nails.
This nail art technique is super simple. I requires a base color, a clear bottle of polish (that you don't mind ruining a bit), loose glitter, a top coat and a few hours of drying time. I know that sounds intense but just don't go doing the dishes after you do your nails.
So check out the video to see how its done. Enjoy kittens and let me know if you try this!
