Hey kittens! If you're in the NYC area and want to join me for a craft up this coming sunday well you're in luck! I'll be co-hosting a craft up with my girl Sonia (@alwaysinstyle). We're starting at 3:30pm and going until we run out of materials... or get too tipsy to glitter anymore.
If you're interested in coming simply RSVP to me lesley@lesleykat.com to get the address. While you're at it, check out my DIY Pinterest board.
Under a shady tree, next to the pond on the east lawn in central park a fabulous group of ladies united for crafts, chats and snacks. We could not have asked for a better weather. The craft dujour was the wrapped ball-chain bracelet which is great for all skill-levels of crafty folks. Its easy and quick to make with beautiful results. Jenni (@ISpyDIY) made like a half dozen in the couple of hours we were there. We even had some visitors including a ridiculously adorable frenchie puppy and an equally adorable little girl from one blanket over.
Thanks to @alwaysinstyleand @ISpyDIY for organizing, and guests @MissWhoeveryUR, @mizlizzle@frooblor and Erica (get on your twitter, lady!) who came out. A special shout out goes to M&J Trimming for hooking us up with some supplies for the event. We are planning on getting another craft-up together after summer so keep on the lookout for that. Perhaps a tie-dye craft up?
Hey Kittens! You all know that friendship bracelets are super hot right now. This weekend I am attending a sweet craft up with a handful of amazingly cool girls, bloggers and possibly a super secret press guest. Come check it out! See details below.
Since there's no actual address, I have created a location HERE that can be easily accessed on iPhones/any google map. We have some supplies provided by our lovely sponsor, M&J Trimming, but if you have your own thread bring it!
Other things to bring: • Something to drink (if happens just to be a flask of whiskey, your secrets safe with us) Snackies are welcome too! • Embellishments including, but not limited to: rhinestones, beads, charms, hex nuts, etc... • Something to sit on like a towel or a blanket
No RSVP required! Just show up and hang out! Feel free to bring friends and puppies. If it rains, there may be a relocation or date change. Stay tuned. PS. Feel free to pass any of this info along. The more, the craftier!

"Dressed" is a documentary about fashion designer and acquaintance of mine, Nary Manivong. It tells the story of his rise from a broken childhood and homelessness to showing his collection at New York Fashion Week. Appearances include: Mickey Boardman, Simon Collins, Simon Doonan, George Furlan, Mary Gehlhar, Nanette Lepore, Fern Mallis and Lynn Yaeger.
The film opens today in NYC at the Chelsea Clearview Cinemas on 23rd street and plays through the 10th of Feb before moving to Philly and finishing up in Columbus, Ohio. (My college town and the town in which Nary grew up.) To read more about the film and Nary check out the official website.

A couple of months ago I wrote about Lord & Taylor's 5th Avenue store renovations on StyleITOnline.com and all of the amazing things they were doing to the beauty floor. They also did renovations on a bunch of the other floors including the 2nd floor contemporary clothing/shoes and the mens floor. To show off their hard work, they hosted a fabulous party last thursday. I got to check out the new home store, sip some delicious cocktails, mingle with some fab people. I even was able to spy a few celebs including NYC Mayor Bloomberg, Paulina Poriskova, Denise Richards or Jill Zarin, Countess LuAnne Delesseps (and her weirdo producer guy) and Ciara.
Lord & Taylor has always been known for their beautiful Christmas windows and decorations shop. If you get a chance to drop by the 5th ave store from early/mid november, be sure to check out the windows. They're always amazing! The Christmas decorations are also pretty cool too!
During fashion week Robert Verdi hosted a retreat in his fantastic Lux Lab. The place was amazing and is like an homage to all things fabulous. We sipped cocktails, pet puppies (no joke! there was also a doggie brunch) munched on delicious foods. (Who knew kale salad could be so rediculously amazing?) We were also treated to cocktails, manicures by Ginger + Liz, makeup touchups by Stila and hairstyling by the Red Door Salon if we so desired. Of course I jumped to get a manicure! The green is Ivy League and the gold is Got my groove back. I got TONS of compliments on the color combo.
There was also this great little room were we were asked to tell a little story about fashion week. (Is this what it's like being on a reality show and filming a confessional!?) The lovely ladies in there gave me a coupon for 10 day supply of Acuve daily contacts.I have totally been eyeballing (um, no pun intended!) them on the TV commercials. I also got my feet, shoulders and back masaged by these rediculously amazing masage chairs by Panisonic. My feet have never been squeezed so well in my life.
All in all, it was a fantastic retreat and I honestly felt a little spoiled. I'm such a DIY girl all the time, it's nice to get pampered for a change.
No, I'm not talking plastic surgery, people. I'm talking RENOVATION! This week I visited Lord & Taylor's NYC store to see how the renovation process is coming along. There was fabulous technology, fragrances, makeup, skin care and a few cupcakes!
