The Makeup Show always offers amazing deals and discounts on products. One of the very best deals of the show was the Kevyn Aucoin The Pure Powder Glow (a fancy name for blush) priced at just $5 each! Unbelievable, right?! I'm a totally hussy for blush so of course I had to get one of each. I had a pretty difficult time trying to find a place to buy these online. Sephora carries the brand in some store but does not offer it online. (booooo!) They are available online at New London Pharmacy for $37. Note, the products I purchased at the makeupshow came sans packaging and are basically samples which contributed to the drastic reduction in price.
I am actually really happy that I got to try these out since I they are my first experience with Kevyn Aucoin products.
For review and swatches,
Myracle - Hot pink with matte finish. This color almost has a neon-esque quality. It's very bright and probably more suited for medium to dark skin. While pale tones can still rock this color, approach with caution. A little goes a LONG way!
Shadore - Soft pink with matte finish. This color is a little more suited for lighter skintones than Myracle. Its a pretty neutral pink, not too cool or warm either way. It is light in color but very pigmented so a little will go a long way. It may look ashey on dark skintones.
Dolline - Apricot with matte finish. I would reccomend this particular color for all skintones. It will be equally flattering on all.
Natura - Neutral rosy-tan with cool-toned shimmer. This color is great for light and medium skintones and is a great option for people who like to more neutral on the cheeks. The shimmer is not frosty at all and has bits of micro-glitter, but I don't think it'll end up all over the place. For darker tones this may work as a highlighter rather than blush.
Neolita - Red berry with pink-toned shimmer. Once again, the shimmer is not frosy and contains a bit of micro-glitter. I would reccomend this for most skin types except for really pale unless you can use restraint while applying. This color adds a really nice flush to the skin almost as if you were out in the cold.
Fira - Hot mango red-orange with matte finish. This bad boy is perfect for medium and dark tones and would be epicly beautiful on olive skin tones. This color is intense and very pigmented. It will add a firery flush to your cheeks.
Some notes about application: While these blushes are SUPER pigmented, they are also extremely soft and blendable. They will buff out to a more natural finish with a fluffy blush or kabuki brush. Don't be scared away by the colors. I tested both finishes, matte and shimmer, and found that both were very long lasting. They lasted all day and well into the night when I applied at 8am. The shimmer finishes don't leave you looking like a disco-ball. These are my new go-to blushes!
