When many people are stressed out they turn to food. A big basket of salty fries or a gourmet cupcake with a cloud's worth of frosting on top may do it for some, but when I'm stressed, I beauty shop. This is how I ended up with a $32 lipstick.
Normally I would NEVER think of buying a lipstick that even comes close to the $20 range but these last few weeks have been particually stressful. Sometimes you just need a pretty lipstick to make things better.
Dior Rouge Dior Haute Couleur lipstick in Rouge Muse (Red Muse, but everything looks better en français, non?) is simply put, a perfect lipstick. It has fantastic lasting power and is extremely comfortable to wear. The color is poppy red with which leans a bit pink-red on my skin. The finish is slightly glossy but not sticky and it feels silky smooth and luxurious on the lips. The only thing I don't like about is the scent. It has the... um... lets just call it "vintage" lipstick smell. It bothered me at first, but then I got used to it and hardly noticed it after a while.
When I applied it in the morning before leaving the apt (around 8:30am), it stayed through coffee, water and was still decently there after lunch (around 1:30pm). I did re-apply after lunch only because I like my lips to look fresh when I am wearing a bold color. It does slighly stain the lips, which may attribute to the staying power. Its slightly glossy finish makes the lips appear a touch more voluptuous, which we all love.
Overall, I love this lipstick and I am really happy I took the plunge and made such a luxurious purchase. J'adore!
